Tony Winner Cady Huffman is Marguerite.
Based on the heroic, adventurous life of fearless pioneer and Canada's first female saint Marguerite Bourgeoys, and told through soaring song and monologue, this one woman musical recounts Marguerite's death-defying journey to bring liberated women to the New World and help build the city of Montreal.
Featuring book and lyrics by award-winning librettist Anton Dudley, and music by Broadway songwriter Michael Cooper, Marguerite is an inspiring story of inclusion, love, and living life without walls.
“Cady Huffman soars in the NY Premiere of ‘Marguerite!’” - Stagebuddy
“A glittering, velvet score melds with the jewel-like surroundings of the church for an overall effect that becomes a graceful expression of one pioneering woman’s faith and devotion.”
“A smooth, delightful journey narrated by the saint herself, as performed by a luminous Cady Huffman. Her bold voice ringing from the (historic) rafters, Huffman conveys Marguerite’s warmth, idealism, and daring: painting in bright, soaring strokes a portrait of the saint’s undaunted heroism in the face of every imaginable obstacle.”
"Compelling! Vivid and engaging!" - Qns
“The music itself ranges from deeply mournful to upbeat and optimistic. Throughout the performance, it serves as an extremely solid background for the sister’s story.”
“Much more than a detailed narrative of Marguerite’s life. It is a tribute to one woman’s strength and self-sacrifice through extremely trying times.”
"Huffman delivers the one-woman performance with grace, sincerity, and a touch of humor. When she melodically proclaims, "Je suis Canadienne!" I couldn't help but agree... catch Marguerite while you can!" - BOASTNY
“Beautiful. A religious experience!” - Hi! Drama”
